Team Phantom
Team Phantom is Simon Fraser University’s Formula SAE Electric team. We are a student-run engineering team designing and building a fully electric formula-style race car to compete in Formula SAE Electric.
Purpose
Team Phantom exists to give students hands-on engineering experience beyond coursework through the design and development of a Formula SAE Electric race car.
Hands-On Learning
Team Phantom gives students the opportunity to work on real hardware and software systems. Members gain experience with design reviews, testing, documentation, and integration.
Engineering Fundamentals
By focusing on core engineering principles, we aim to design systems that are reliable, safe, and well-understood as we progress through our first vehicle build.
Teamwork
Team Phantom aims to build a supportive and welcoming team culture. We encourage knowledge sharing, mentorship between experienced and new members, and collaboration across disciplines.

Laying the Groundwork
Team Phantom is currently in its first engineering iteration.
As a first-iteration team, we are currently developing our first Formula SAE Electric vehicle, with a focus on learning sound engineering practices, system-level design, and building something that works safely and reliably.
Iteration 0 Development
Establishing core design practices, workflows, and system architectures.
Design, Review, and Testing
Learning how to evaluate ideas critically through design reviews, simulations, and early testing.
Building Team Structure
Creating documentation, processes, and knowledge-sharing systems to support future team members.
